At the International Blockchain Olympiad 2021, Nimbus — a four-member team from the University of Dhaka — made the winners' list in the prototype and fintech category for the first time. In this category they set out to bring land management onto a digital platform using blockchain software.
According to the members, getting land-related work done in Bangladesh means a great deal of suffering: at present the job can only be completed after nineteen separate steps. Their aim is for the government to use this technology to complete secure, up-to-date records quickly and to benefit from it. The four members were Mohammad Atiqur Rahman, Tahlil Absar, Ishtiaq Zahid and Mohammad Sohrawardy.
The Olympiad's colourful closing and prize-giving ceremony was held on the night of Sunday 10 October at the ICT Tower in Agargaon, Dhaka. It was organised jointly by the Information and Communication Technology Division and the Bangladesh Computer Council, together with Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh and Technohaven Company Limited.
